Obi Clutch - Shimmering Choucho

Our signature clutch, hand made from vintage 'obi': the sash worn with kimono at formal occasions.

Shimmering Choucho (butterflies) that adorn this black obi, can be seen on many forms of Japanese design. They have been a popular symbol symbol since the Nara period 710 to 794AD.  They are symbols of joy and longevity.

This vintage Fukuro Obi was sourced from the Osaka area of Japan.  It is around 40 years old, and in excellent condition.

Handmade by self help groups in Cambodia.

Dimensions: 30cm x 18cm
